Mild Plum Chutney
Description/Notes:
A pleasantly mild chutney with a subtle hint of cinnamon and ginger
Ingredients:
5 lbs. (2.25kg) plums,stoned 2 lbs. (900g) sugar 2 pints vinegar 1 oz (25g) powdered cinnamon 1 oz. (25g) ground ginger 3 oz. (80g) salt 1 oz. (25g) allspice 1 oz. (25g) bruised mustard seed
Cooking Instructions:
- Cut the plums into quarters
- Pour the vinegar into a pan, add all ingredients, except plums, and bring to the boil
- Add the plums, reduce heat, and simmer until the plums are tender
- Remove from heat when the mixture reaches desired consistency
- spoon into warmed jars and seal
