Onion and Cheese Pastries
Description/Notes:
Probably the most popular pastrie in your picnic hamper
Ingredients:
12 oz. (350g) cooked onions 4 oz. (125g) grated cheese 1 teaspoon of chopped parsley salt and pepper quarter pint of white sauce pinch of nutmeg 8 oz. (225g) short crust pastry
Cooking Instructions:
- Pre-heat oven to 400F, Gas Mark 6, 200C
- Roll out the pastry thinly and cut into 4 inch (10 cm.) rounds
- Chop the onions, mix with all the other ingredients and season carefully
- Put a good spoonful of the mixture on each pastry round
- Damp edges and fold over, pressing edges well together
- Score across the top of the pastry, put on a baking tray and bake in the pre-heated oven for 25-30 minutes
