Savoury Danish Pastries
Makes 8
Description/Notes:
Scrumptious savoury mince in a piquant cheese sauce wrapped in tasty short-crust pastry
Ingredients:
12 oz. (350g) minced beef 4 oz. (125g) Danish blue cheese 1 onion, peeled and finely chopped 2 tablespooons of oil half a level teaspoon of paprika half a level teaspoon of dry mustard 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce pinch of celery salt 1 tablespoon of sour cream 8 oz. (225g) short crust pastry pinch of garlic salt beaten egg to glaze
Cooking Instructions:
- Pre-heat the oven to 400F, Gas Mark 6, 200C
- Heat the oil , add the onion and cook till lightly coloured
- Add the minced beef and cook gently, stirring occasionally
- When the meat is cooked, ad paprika, mustard, sauce and salts
- Allow to cool a little then add the cream and cheese
- Season to taste
- Roll out the pastry thinly and cut into 8 rounds
- Put a spoonful of the mixture onto each round, damp edges and fold over, pressing the edges well together
- Flute with thumb and finger and make a slit in the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape
- Put on a baking tray, glaze with the beaten egg and bake in the pre-heated oven for about 20- 25 minutes
