Caerphilly cheese gives a delightful flavor to these scones. Don’t forget to spread with butter before serving. Delicious.


  • 350g (12oz)) flour
  • 1.5ml (!/4tsp.) salt
  • 15ml (3tsp) baking powder
  • 40g (one and a half ounces) butter
  • 150g (5oz) Caerphilly cheese
  • 300ml (1/2 pint) milk
  • pepper to taste
  • Cooking Instructions:

    1. Preheat oven to 220C, 425F, Gas mark 7
    2. Sift together the flour, salt and the baking powder
    3. Rub in the butter
    4. Grate the cheese finely and add to the flour and pepper
    5. Mix all the ingredients well and then add enough milk to form a soft dough
    6. Roll out to about 2.5 cm. (1/2 inch) thick and cut into rounds
    7. Place on a baking sheet greased with butter
    8. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes
    9. Serve hot, spread with butter
