Recipe: Spaghetti Bolognese

Italian classic that you can enjoy equally as well for lunch as for dinner


  • 4 oz. (100g) lean minced beef
  • 1 oz. (25g) chopped onion
  • 8 oz. can chopped tomatoes
  • half a clove of garlic
  • 1 tbsp. Tomato puree
  • 2 oz. (50g) wholewheat recipe
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • pinch of dried basil
  • pinch of dried oregano
  • pinch of low fat cheddar cheese, grated
  • Cooking Instructions:

    1. Seal the mince in a non-stick pan and drain off excess fat
    2. Add the garlic and the onion then continue cooking until soft
    3. Add the tomatoes and their juice, tomato puree, herbs and seasoning to the pan
    4. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes
    5. Place the spaghetti in boiling water and cook until it softens
    6. Place the spaghetti on a hot serving dish and pour the meat sauce over it
    7. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the sauce and serve
